VfR Kaiserslautern

In a city obsessed with the Red Devils, there probably isn't much room for any other club. That is the problem that VfR Kaiserslautern has dealt with, languishing in the shadow of 1.FCK.

During the end of the war years 1944-45, VfR was actually merged with 1.FCK. However due to the dire situation, they only played a couple of friendlies. After the war, the union was dissolved.

After restarting in 1946, there was some minor succes - indeed, famed Fritz Walter helped train the club - in the late 1940s. , as the club managed to play in the old (but relatively weak) Oberliga Südwest, but there wasn't much interest

These days VfR kicks around in the 8th division in obscurity.

He was capped another 8 times for Germany. In the early 1950s, he led VfR to some of their best years in the old Oberliga Südwest.
