Match Report

SpVgg Germania Ratingen - Wuppertaler SV 0:3 (0:1)

Oberliga Niederrhein, Round 28:
April 13, 2002
WSV with ho-hum victory, back on track

Hardly an inspiring victory, but WSV showed up with a workman like performance and disposed of a crap Ratingen squad 3-0. Since Velbert lost, this enables WSV to strengthen their hold on 2nd, 1 point behind leaders Köln.

Things could have been made easier if Markus Bayertz hadn't missed a penalty after 12 minutes. But unlike other matches, this one didn't really sting much. Andrija Dabovic gave WSV the lead only a couple of minutes later. Dabovic has been one of the few bright spots in the last weeks, as he has won not only a regular starting job, but has been scoring goals as well. (About 6 goals in the last 9 matches!)

In the 2nd half, WSV dicked around before whacking in a couple of goals to finish of Ratingen. They were helped by Dimirci getting his ass toss after an hour for a dirty foul.

Again, nothing special for WSV, but at least they bring home the bacon.
