Wuppertaler SV - SSVg Velbert 0:0 (0:0)

The top of the table derby wasn't the best played match, but was packed with action and quite entertaining. Another disappointing small crowd, but obviously the Wuppertal fans are not yet convinced that WSV is worthy of their support yet. WSV pressed hard, and Velbert relied on dangerous counterattacks. Thomas Rietz and Mirko Stark had some good tries with headers that missed their mark.

The guests also had some decent chances early, as Tumani and Gensler went close in the first 20 minutes. However, in general, the WSV defense didn't have too many problems.

Alex Kohout stayed in the cabin after the half, as it was suspected that he might have fractured a bone in his hand. This has not been a happy start to the season for the Czech goalscorer, who had only recently returned from injury.

After about an hour, a great chance for WSV. Bayertz and Kipre worked the ball in, and Ebersbach's shot had the keeper beaten, but it was just wide. After the match Olli Ebersbach needed to be hauled to the hospital. He had played despite a virus infection and was totally exhausted, needing some IV attention... However, the greatest scoring chance came up in the 72th minute: Sascha Walbröhl popped up totally unmarked in front of the goal, but couldn't put it in.

In post match conference, both WSV boss Georg Kreß and Velbert coach Jörg Silberbach expressed general satisfaction with the result.
