Wuppertaler SV - SV Adler Osterfeld 5:3 (2:1)

Sloppy defense ruins wipeout

WSV put in an excellent attacking display against an outgunned Osterfeld squad, but lazy-ass defending at the end cost a couple of goals in garbage time, which eventually might hurt us down the stretch.

WSV took over the initiative straight from the opening whistle, although a combination of the Adler defense and the waterlogged pitch slowed things down. Nevertheless, it was the guests that had the first chance, as Küsters barely missed a cross from Durdu. However, just 2 minutes later, Markus Bayertz blasted in a shot from 20 yards, giving WSV the lead. Shortly thereafter, Tavarez took a nice pass from Euler and dribbled around the keeper, and WSV was in total control. Yet again, laziness at the back punished Wuppertal, as Bayertz lost the ball and LoMele scored just before the half-time whistle.

The 2nd half saw WSV open impressively, their best stage of the game. Ebersbach quickly opened the scoring after a pretty pass from Kipre. Then the "Thomas Euler Show" continued, as he was everywhere, playing his best career match for WSV. His assists led to the next two WSV scores, with Rietz and Kipre getting the goals. So after an hour, WSV had total control, and a 5-1 rout was in progress.

Unfortunately for WSV, they again got too lax, and the Adler managed to score twice in the last couple of minutes. This leaves a slightly bitter taste in what should have been a sweet victory.

Afterwards, coach Georg Kreß expressed satisfaction in that "we totally controlled the game."
