A disgraceful end to a crappy season. Worthless teams like Erkenschwick would undoubtedly be thrilled with a 6th place finish, but for WSV it can only be seen as a total failure.
The guests packed the midfield in an attempt to prevent WSV from getting control of the game. Ramadani was the only forward, and he was basically alone except for occasional support from Eberhard and in the 2nd half, from Heinzen. Missing in the Wuppertal lineup were the injured Rudi Müller and Babacar N'Diaye, who had been among th best players in the last few games.

There were few chances in the game, although WSV's Gerrit Meinke blew two opportunities early on.

After the break, WSV was unable to organize anything, whereas Salmrohr fought their way back into the game. And it wasn't an undeserved payoff that finally sealed it: Werner Heinzen scored the game-winner, after stealing an errant pass from Hartwig, and hitting a flat shot from 11 meters past Gramse, who had no chance. FSV was then able to celebrate staving off relegation for another year.
