Regionalliga West-Südwest

5th Round

A heroic victory in George Melches Stadion in Essen is of course the highpoint of this week. But there were some other important results too. Oberhausen stumbles again in Siegen, who have been fairly impressive so far. The Kaierslautern amateurs showed that last week's drubbing of Essen was no fluke, as they grabbed a point in Homburg. Looks like Salmrohr clearly got the raw-end of the Trier deal.

The biggest surprises of the season so far have to be the crummy performances of co-favorites Saarbruecken and Essen. However not too far behind is Verl's stunning weakness. Ahlen, the odds on pre-season favorite, has struggled, although Erkenschwick may have been just what the doctor ordered. Maybe the firing of their coach has lit a fire under the players.

Trier continues to impress, and Siegen is a bit of an early season surprise.
