Address given with ticket purchase. I'll collaborate with Rene Jenkins, Ian Dogole, and Janay Cipriani who will play ancient Peruvian wind and percussion instruments, hang, udu and more. Kim's Regular Class Schedule -- Winter/Spring 2012

Mondays

Tuesdays

• 7 to 9PM,  Petaluma CA. Kim  teaches a beginning /intermediate djembe and dundun class at a beautiful, spacious private studio in N. Petaluma. I use many different teaching methods to help you understand rhythm in general and the traditional West African djembe rhythms gifted to me by my master teachers Karamba Diabate, Abdoulaye Diakite, and Mamady Keita and Babatunde Olatunji. In each class we start with warm up grooves and games, we do some improvised music, we get up and move, then we play one or two of the traditional drum songs. I provide the dundun bass drums with bells, and can bring a djembe for you. Please email me or call 823 8885 if you want to be part of this class. Series of 8 class paid in advance $176. Wednesdays

6:15 to 7:45 PM, Sebastopol CA. Hand Drums Ensemble for Conga, Cajon, Bongo and more.
This is a intermediatate hand drum class where we learn multiple parts to classic dance rhythms that inform American Music. Class is held at the Subud Hall, 234 Hutchins Ave, near Papas and Pollo on Hwy 116. Please call me at 823 8885 if you are interested.  $25 per class.

7:45 to 9:00PM, Sebastopol CA. Beginning and Intermediate Djembe and DunDun Class at the Subud Hall, 234 Hutchins Ave. This is a introductory class and I provide the dun dun bass drum or bring your own. We play rhythm games, learn technique, involve spoken rhythm and movement, call and response, polymeter, stick work, and more. We work on Fanga, Yankadi, Macuru, Kaki Lambe, Sorsonett, Garengedon. I can bring a hand drum for you, please call in advance. Cost is $15-20 sliding scale. Everyone is welcome to come to this class, please call Kim to register and for last minute details. Brazilian Percussion class is on hold at the moment. Please call and express your interest This is a performing group class for Teens and Adults. We learn instruments of the Brazilian Bateria (parade orchestra): bass drums, bells, shakers, stick drums, snare drums, scratchers and more. We play rhythms from around the world plus my own compositions and arrangements. Hear the music. Class is conducted in a circle, while standing and moving to an easy step to keep time. Thursdays:

9am to 3pm: Kim teaches percussion, body rhythm, movement and music to children and young adults at schools in  Sonoma County. If you are interested in having me present at your school, please contact me at 707.823.8885.

4 to 5:00 pm, Santa Rosa CA.   Youth Hand Drum class Held at a private home. This is a class for young people 9 to 13 years old. We are playing djembe and dunun (bass drums), bells, shakers and more. We play rhythms from around the world plus my own compositions and arrangements. $60 per 4 week session. Contact me for more information.
