11R3 Literary Response and Analysis
The student reads and responds to culturally significant works of American, British and World literature. They conduct in-depth analyses of recurrent patterns and themes.

11W2 Written English Language Conventions
The student demonstrates an understanding and control of the English language in written work.
 

In addition to the criteria listed under Distiguished:

Integrates color, symbols  and words to create a pleasing and logical two- or three-dimensional design.

Executes design with creativity and flair.

Has a single unifying symbol which conveys one of the novel's overarching themes or patterns.

Uses other symbols to communicate important elements of the novel.

Includes relevant quotes from the novel;  also includes commentary on the quotes.

Has a title (not the same as the title of the novel) which captures the central idea of the graphic ãin a nutshell.ä

Is original, i.e. the result of the studentâs solo creative and critical thinking.

Is neatly and carefully executed. Elements are intentionally placed.

Contains almost no spelling or punctuation errors. 

Quotes are identified by page number

Has a single unifying symbol which conveys one of the novel's themes or patterns.

Includes relevant quotes from the novel; may include commentary on the quotes. 

Has a title (not the same as the title of the play) which explains what the graphic is about.

Is original, i.e. the result of the studentâs solo creative and critical thinking.

Is neat and carefully executed. 

Contains few spelling or punctuation errors (and not so many as to interfere with the understanding of the reader).
 

Meets most, but not all, of the criteria listed under Proficient.
