Elmhurst Neighborhood Association
November 2005 UCDMC Lights Demo
On the evening of Wednesday, November 30, 2005, the UC Davis
Medical Center conducted a demonstration for their proposed
tower lighting project. The demo showed the old (2003) blue
lights next to the new (2005) outlined lights.
Those in attendance seemed to agree that the new lights are
at least as readable as the old lights, yet the new lights
would be much less objectionable to the residents that were
adversely effected by the old lights.
Update #1: Since posting these pictures, it has been pointed out
that the blue lights actually appear "fuzzy" to the naked eye
(which is not obvious in the picture), and that the outline
of the new letters appears much sharper than in the picture.
Update #2: The lights will again be turned on after 6 P.M. on
the evenings of Thursday, December 1, and Wednesday, December 7.
To see the lights, go to 48th Street and 2nd Avenue, and look to
the north-east. The lights will be a topic of discussion at the
Elmhurst Neighborhood Association's annual meeting.
