Site of Haraszthy Villa
California State Historic Landmark 392-1
#392-1 Count Agoston Haraszthy
"Father of California Viticulture"
This building is a reconstruction of the Pompeian Villa erected on this site
in 1857 by Count Haraszthy. Here, on October 23, 1864, was held a masked ball, the first formal
vintage celebration in California history. General and Mrs. Mariano Vallejo were guests of
Castle Rd near Buena Vista Winery, Sonoma.
