About the Photographers

Tom Usher has been a photographer since 1975. He has travelled throughout the world, drawn by a fascination for enduring religious and cultural forms, such as Inca or Hindu temples or simpler, more beautiful means of farming than today's mass agriculture. He enjoys taking pictures of subjects bearing the patina of antiquity, living remnants which touch upon our instinctive connection to a venerable past.
Caroline Whyte is Tom's wife and partner. She comes from Ireland (Belfast and Dublin), and moved to the USA in 1996. She shares Tom's interest in nature and in traditional cultures. Recently she has been involved with producing the online version of Short Circuit by Richard Douthwaite, which is about strengthening local economies. In August 2003 she took over the maintenance of the website for Feasta, The Foundation for the Economics of Sustainability.
