Summer Workshops at Studio M.L.

August 9th 9:30-4:00

The focus of this next series of workshops will be some simple concepts that can make all the difference in the success of your artwork.

Composition: How to hone in on what is the most important part of a still life and how to make your composition work, with movement and a statement.

Focal Point: Within the composition, what you want to emphasize

Story: How to determine what story you will bring out from a simple still life.

The day will be structured to allow everyone to complete a piece, or get an excellent start on a piece. We will be a small group of 7 people or less so everyone will get to know one another and each participant will get help as needed throughout the day. I will start off with a brief demonstration or two and then we'll dive in, breaking for lunch. We will have a casual sharing circle critique toward the end of the day.

Fee including most materials and lunch: $95.00
Time: 9:30-4:00 with half hour for lunch (Vegetarian lunch).

Bring: A painting shirt, a piece of watercolor paper or canvas, any particular items you wish to incorporate in your piece and any favorite brushes or paints you can't be without. (No Oil paints please as I am allergic to them.) Materials provided: I will provide water-based paint, pastel chalks, something to use as a palette and a variety of paper, glue, etc.
