Test Station Notes Team
Date Chartered: 5/12/95
Situation Analysis: Lack of consistent documentation of test station assets, revisions to station, calibration process and test station theory of operation. No visibility of Station Support Documents. This results in excess downtime due to difficulty troubleshooting problems. It can also result in product not being tested properly if undocumented and unapproved changes are made to the test station.
Strategic Fit: Establishing and documenting a process for controlling the design configuration and revision control of test stations helps us prepare for ISO 9001 certification. Good work practices permits quicker problem solving.
Objectives:
1. Define responsibilities/duties and skills required to do documentation of station information.
2. Create a standardized format for Test Station Configuration and Revision Control.
Deliverables:
1. Team Charter.
2. Proposal for documenting test station configuration and revision control.
3. Training for technicians and engineers.
4. Bring existing test stations into compliance with new requirements.
Team Members: Gary Brown, John Braun, Eric Latter
Team Advisor /Leader: Brian Kanz
Team Sponsor: Mike Milken
Value Added: Minimize downtime, speed asset search, document station changes and pinpoint documentation needs .
Linkages: Supervisors/team leaders and production technicians to help implement and aid buy in to the concept. Additional ties to department Quality Manual (ISO 9001).
Schedule: A schedule or timeline that outlines team deliverables and completion of objectives.
Review Process: Bi-monthly team meetings , monthly technician meetings and yearly documentation reviews within business unit.
Key Priorities: Ease of use document design, technician support, and copy center support.
Issues/Barriers: Incomplete documents, technician resistance to use, and availible time to implement.
Chartering Body: Electrical Engineering Staff
Sponsor: Mike Milken
Key Assumptions:
1. A common document format is needed to allow any Production Engineering Support Technician to work on any station across the department.
2. Downtime will be reduced by having accurate test station documentation.
3. Test process quality will be consistent with design intent by exercising better revision control on test stations.
