The roll-up vessel is a combination of kiln glass and glass blowing.The vessel starts as a thick, fused glass tile, which is picked up on a glass blowing pipe and blown into a vessel shape. The final piece can be intricately patterned in ways that are not possible with a conventional blown piece that starts with a draw of glass from a furnace. This process also allows the inset of detailed images that would be difficult to control, if they weren't prepared in advance as a tile |
