Boulders and Snow near Heart Lake
2004 21 x 24" From a camping trip in my sophomore year in college. We hiked out of Onion Valley trailhead and camped in the snow above Heart Lake. I walked around the frozen lake and came across these massive boulders poking up through the snow. I enjoyed the geometric composition, and the crisp boundary between white snow and blue sky. I painted a much
smaller version of this in 1983 with a vertical format. I prefer the
almost-square format of this version. Original available Giclée prints available: image sizes are: 19 1/4 x 22" (92%) and 11 x 12 5/8" (52%) |
