IMPORTANT: Note to Mapquest Users: Mapquest indicates that our studio is 1.5 miles from Los Alamos Road. This is incorrect. The actual distance is 2.1 miles. The map generated by Mapquest is also incomplete. 2nd NOTE: Cougar Lane is a completely paved, single lane road. There are wide spots about every 100 feet. When driving up the lane, keep an eye out for these wide spots, in case you meet someone coming the other way and need to back up. When two cars meet on a hill, the car going downhill is expected to back up. That's because a car backing uphill will hardly ever get stuck - it's easy to roll back downhill, back onto the road. DIRECTIONS: Head out of Santa Rosa on Highway 12. If starting @ Highway 101, this will involve following 12 as it doglegs north for one mile past Montgomery Village (ie, Farmers Lane). The north end of Farmer's Lane, where 12 turns east again, is graced by the Flamingo Hotel, marked by a large column with the name on it in large letters. Heading east on 12, one goes through lights at Brush Creek Rd, Betty's Fish and Chips, Mission Blvd, Middle Rincon, Calistoga Rd, and Skyhawk. The next light, 3.6 miles from the Flamingo, is Los Alamos. Turn left on Los Alamos, and follow it for 2.4 miles as it winds and climbs. At about 2.3 miles, a huge rock cliff (Eagle Rock) comes into view. The road then climbs around the right side of this rock, and as it does so, Cougar Lane will be on your right, marked by a long line of mailboxes. Cougar Lane is to the left of the mailboxes. Descend Cougar Lane for 1.5 miles, at which point it crosses a bridge. Then climb steeply for 0.6 miles. Our driveway is on the left, 2.1 miles from the mailboxes, and is clearly marked with a sign saying: BOETTCHER BERTO 6915 Abridged version: Take Highway 12 out of Santa Rosa. Turn left on Los Alamos, 1.2 miles past Calistoga Rd. Turn right onto Cougar Lane, 2.4 miles up Los Alamos, just past Eagle Rock. Follow Cougar Lane 1.5 miles down to bridge, then 0.6 miles up other side.
