Extension Cord

1989 20 x 26 1/4" I helped a friend near Jenner with some building construction. That day he had just bought a new orange extension cord, and when we needed it he undid the tie, tossed it down on his redwood deck next to the door to his house, and plugged it in. It stayed there the rest of the day, and was still there the following morning when I walked out of the house right after sunrise and looked down at it. The sun's rays were illuminating it from such an acute angle that the cord, which was in full sun, was tall enough to throw the deck into almost full shadow. Against that dark background, the extension cord glowed like a neon tube. From a private collection Giclee prints available: image sizes are: 18 x 23 5/8" (90%) and 10 x 13 1/8" (50%) |
