2009 20 x 28" Two Purple-Striped Jellyfish, chrysaora colorata, cavorting and tieing themselves into a knot. These two live at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Julie Packard's gift to humanity. Jellyfish are an ideal airbrush subject: translucent, with no fur, scales, or hair. The long frilly tentacles were painted individually, using the airbrush to add titanium white in thin layers for a near-transparent effect. Original available Giclée prints available: image sizes are: 18 x 25 1/4" (90%) and 10 x 14" (50%) |
