Zinnia Skipper
|
|
2008 26 x 33" A favorite butterfly on a favorite flower. Last year, our gardeners at Agilent planted three enormous concrete planters edge to edge with zinnias. As they started to bloom and beckon, honeybees and fiery skipper butterflies descended on them and engaged in symbiotic mutual continuation of the species. Fiery skippers do not pause for a moment as they service flowers in exchange for nectar. Land on the flower - proboscis out - GO! I got very lucky and took a source photo in which the proboscis was in the act of recoiling. Original available. Giclee prints available: image sizes are: 18 x 22 3/4" (69%) and 10 x 12 3/4" (39%) |
