Mount Whitney at Sunset (1988)
|
|
20 x 27 3/4" 1988 From a comet-chasing trip to the Mojave Desert in 1986. I went to visit a friend in Pahrump and also to just drive south, so as to see Halley's Comet a few degrees farther from the southern horizon. On the way back, I camped in the Alabama Hills near Lone Pine. Mount Whitney, monarch of the Sierra off to the west, had a cloud attached to it, streaming off the summit in a stiff north wind. I photographed it using the telephoto lens that I had brought along for taking comet pictures. I repainted this scene in 2003. Not for sale |
