Family Life

I'm the middle child in a family of seven children, five boys followed by two girls. My parents (Marjorie (

26KB JPEG) and John) were married for 23 years, but were divorced for over 30 years. Except for a brother in Las Vegas, NV, all my siblings and my father still live in Northern California, altho my father and I are the only ones living in the immediate San Francisco Bay Area. While we're not as close as when we were younger, my siblings and I gather together for special events--such as our mother's death in 1998.

Since 1992 I've been in a primary relationship with Sanford Dole (27KB JPEG), born 1955 October 11 in Berkeley, CA. Sanford is a professional musician: singer, conductor, and composer. He sings tenor with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus and is Director of Music at St. Gregory Nyssen Episcopal Church. He also conducts his own group, the Sanford Dole Ensemble, for which he composes.

[Castro Theatre] We live in a Victorian flat in the Eureka Valley area (nowadays more often called "The Castro") of San Francisco ( 48KB JPEG; map), together with our two cats: Rocky and Scooter ( 10KB JPEG). We adopted brothers Rocky and Scooter from the San Francisco SPCA; they were born 1997 April 11.

We also maintain a second home in the Russian River area of Sonoma County ( 70KB JPEG; map) about a 90-minute drive north of The City, where you'll find us most weekends.
