Close Friends

The following are the folks with whom I currently have close, but not intimate, relationships. They are listed by the longevity of our relationship.

Barbara Russell: Barbara is my oldest friend. We met in junior high school in about 1963. We dated in high school, up until my coming out during my first year in college. We maintain a common love for music. She now lives in Stockton with her husband, Bob, and their teenage son, Daniel.

William F. Appelbe ([mail]): Bill and I met in 1974 when we both arrived at the University of British Columbia as foreign students, he from Australia and me from California. We became fast friends. We traveled to California 5 or 6 times over the next 3 years and got to see most parts of the Golden State together. Bill is a university professor and currently teaches at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. I was best man at his wedding to Carolyn. They have one son, Ian.

Dana L. Vinicoff ([mail]): Dana and I met thru the Bay Area Lutheran Chorale in 1978. She and I became best friends over the course of the next several years. We also share a love of music. She is a legal writer by profession. Dana is in a domestic partnership with Sarah A. Peterson.

Scott L. Fredrickson ([mail]): Scott and I first met in 1984 at the Lutherans Concerned biannual assembly held in the Twin Cities. He was the first gay Lutheran computer professional I had met. We maintained correspondence until 1991, when he moved to San Francisco. Scott re-entered my life just one month after Tom Sidebottom and I separated. Scott helped me thru that difficult time and remains my closest confidant in matters of the heart. Scott works as a computer consultant and is the principal of Tower Hill Development
