On March 2nd 2000 Lazerene Mannoe abducted a heavily pregnant schoolgirl called Tasmidah Ganief. Despite being a former policewoman, and being pregnant herself, Mannoe then bound, gagged and stripped Tasmidah before using such surgically approved implements as a breadknife and scissors to perform a crude caesarian: cutting the girl open and removing her baby. Shortly afterwards Tasmidah -- who had been conscious throughout her ordeal -- was discovered and rushed to hospital, where doctors removed her shredded uterus and gave her emergency transfusions. Mannoe was caught and the -- healthy -- baby returned to his mother.
