Fresno, CA, Sept. 14, 1998. Josefina Saldana was sterile, but her husband wanted children; so she befriended the pregnant Margarita Flores, killed her, and cut the eight-and-a-half month child from her womb. Then she scattered parts of Margarita's body over a wide area of southern California and Mexico.
The next day the child died in hospital, and Josefina was arrested for two homicides.
Convicted and sentenced to life without parole, Josefina hung herself in prison, just two days after her conviction.
