Experiment 11
This Experiment measures of an 80’ length of 1.5” spaced balanced line made with conductors obtained from CAT5 cable. Spacing is provided by short 5mm ID drinking straws spaced every 6” along the line.
Fixturing is provided by lumped -41 binocular 1:3.5 turn core transformers and toroidal balance transformers.
An initial measurement, plotted in blue is followed by measurements where 1m of excess line length has been inserted in only one of the conductors and allowed to sag. This is followed by a measurement where an open stub has been inserted and another measurement where the 1m of excess length excess length has been allowed to sag between supports.
A block diagram of these additional measurements is shown in Figure 1.
Time domain gated measurements of these configurations are plotted in Figure 2.
