This experiment measures a 89 foot length of SWTL AWG #28 wire, fixtured using the original QEX launchers. It provides measurements made when bends of several different radii are inserted at the midpoint and the conductor is held into position by a styrofoam form shown in Figure 1.
For this measurement calibration was performed with 50 ohm calibration standards at the ends of the test cables which attached to the launchers. Thus the attenuation of the launchers along with the SWTL itself is included in all measurements.
Figure 3 shows the form mounted on a tripod with the conductor placed in one of the slots to create the desired radius of curvature.
