Experiment 7
This Experiment is a measurement of a 64 foot length of 1m-spaced AWG#28 wire, fixtured using 200 ohm input Klopfenstein tapered transformers preceded by 1:2 turns ratio flux-coupled transformers and also a 1:1 current balanced transformer. Calibration has been performed in a reference impedance of 200 ohms at the low impedance input connections of each tapered transmission line transformer.
It is different from the previous experiment by having one of the conductors extended in length by 1 meter. The extra length was distributed along that conductor by creating ‘sag’ in between supports.
Measurement showing the original balanced line are shown in blue.
After the 1 meter of extra length was inserted the line was remeasured and the results shown in cyan.
Finally after the insertion point of the extra length, the two conductors were joined by tapering each inward to a central point and continued on to Port 2 as a single conductor.
In this way the two conductor line was transformed into a single conductor line and received by only one side of the Klopfenstein tapered fixture. The other connection on the fixture was left unconnected.
This measurement is shown in green.
