Tape and Video Game Information
Each tape in stock is filed and information on a single tape can be
retreived easily.
Also, reports on the complete stock of tapes, a certain category of tapes
(by rating, category, actor(s), number of rentals, age, etc.) can be
reported on as well.
Each tape entry contains the following information:
- Name
- ID Number
A number given to the tape upon entry into the database.
- Category
Up to 26 categories are allowed. Common categories include Sci-Fi,
Horror, and Comedy.
- Purchase Date
- Release Date
If you wish to give good deals on the "older" tapes and charge more
for new releases, the date the movie was released on video can determine
if it's a "new" movie or not.
- Type
Whether the "tape" is a:
- VHS video cassette
- Beta-max video cassette
- Laser disc
- Video game (Nintendo NES, Nintendo SNES, Sega Masters, Sega Genesis,
etc.)
- Rentals
Although the number of rentals can be determined by looking through the
database of customers, that would take a very long time! This makes
finding out what movies are the most popular a fast and easily answered
request.
- Rating
The tape's rating (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17, X, NR). This keeps children
who are authorized users from renting tapes they shouldn't.
- Condition
What condition the tape is in. When returning a tape, if you are
suspicious that something has happened since the tape was last rented,
you can check to see if the latest renter is responsible and it is added
to their record accordingly.
