NCMUG Membership

By becoming a member of NCMUG you join one of the largest and most active Apple User Groups in the country.  Our many beneftis include:

• General club meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 7 PM to 9PM at the Rohnert Park Senior Center. Each month offers a question and answer session, a guest speaker, plus door prizes and a great raffle.
• NCMUG News, NCMUG’s official newsletter, won the 1998 User Group Academy Award for Large User Group Newsletter. Each month’s newsletter is filled with timely tips, software reviews, club happenings and more.
• SIGs meet at separate times and locations from the general meeting and are open to current club members only. Please see the newsletter for topics, times and locations.
• Club members volunteer to give phone support to other club members. Please see the newsletter for categories and numbers. Remember these are volunteers, they may not have all the answers and are not paid professionals.
• Any NCMUG member may place a classified ad in our newsletter or on our web page, free of charge.
• Any current club member may sign up for the NCMUG Mail Lists. As a new member you are automatically invited to the NCMUG Announce list. You may susbribe to the other mail lists by visiting the NCMUG Mail List page.
• Vendors offer special prices to User Group members. Any time a vendor offers special discounts they are posted on the club’s member listserv (see below.) You must be a current member in good standing to participate in these offerings.
• Our local Best Buy store has graciously offered 15% off select items with the following terms -
  

  1. The discount applies only to computer software and accessories. No cameras, or computers, or TVs or dishwashers.

  2. YOU MUST HAVE A CURRENT MEMBERSHIP CARD!! This is super important. Without it we can't do the discount. No exceptions, so don't even ask! (if you have lost your membership card please contact Joan O'Brien at she is the membership secretary).

  3. The discount applies to normal retail price, not sale price. Best Buy will not take 15% off of the sale price of a product. However, if 15% off the normal retail price is better than the sale price, you will be given the lower of the two.

  4. Best Buy will not sell a product below their cost. If 15% off takes the product below their cost, you get to buy it at cost instead.

  5. The discount needs to go through Ehren Warner or Sarah McCarthy. My days off are Tuesday and Wednesday, and hers are Monday and Tuesday. Don't ask another employee or manager about it, it has to go through one of the two of us.

• This is a very special place offering discounted Apple products and third party software. The password for accessing this site is posted to the member listserv only, there is no other way to obtain it.
• This is NCMUG’s yearly fundraising event, usually held in September. This once yearly opportunity to see the latest and greatest in Mac software and hardware is not to be missed. As a club member you will be the first to know all the details!
• All NCMUG members are eligible to have their websites linked to NCMUG's members pages. It may just increase your website traffic! Email the to have your URL added.
