Elihu Lockhart777 was born on 5 November 1781 in Canada, Nova Scotia, Kings Co., Horton.777 Eaton's History of Kings Co. Nova Scotia states that the Lockhart family of Horton is of Scotch-Irish origin, but did not know when they came to Nova Scotia. His information on the family came from Rev. Arthur John Lockhart ("Pastor Felix"), a descendant of Nathan Lockhart and Elizabeth Fuller through their son Nathan Albert Lockhart. He related the story of three Lockhart brothers, Nathan, Elihu and David. Elihu settled in Hantsport Nova Scotia, David, probably first in Horton, then in Cambridge, Mass. and Nathan, made his home permanently in King's County. David orginated the widely known Lockhart Casket manufactory and undertaking business in Boston and Cambridge (724-725)

The Horton, town register of births, marriages and deaths, 1751-1895 has the following family listed - presumably this Elihu Lockhart -

Elizabeth Lockhart1057 was born on 22 July 1783 in Canada, Nova Scotia, Kings Co., Horton.777 She died in 1866.1057 William and Elizabeth had purchased 100 acres of land from her father and sold it by 1824 and moved to St. John. Their son William H. Allen remained in Hantsport or Port Greville, N.S.
I believe Elizabeth's family go back to East Haddam, Connecticut and went to Nova Scotia about 1763. I must look this up my next trip to Ct. Historical Society. (Herman Marshall)

Ann Lockhart1058 was born on 12 May 1785 in Canada, Nova Scotia, Horton Township.777,1058 She died on 7 July 1864.85 correspondence from Eleanor Gavazzi -

My great -great- great grandfather John Nason was born in Horton c. 1804 his mother was Ann Lockhart born in Horton, and his father was Benjamin Nason born in Portsmouth NH. Ann Lockhart was born 12 May 1785 in Horton, the daughter of Mercy Fuller and David Lockhart.I see that you descend from her younger brother John Lockhart who was born 22 Nov, 1788. I find it interesting that his son Captain John Alexander Lockhart was a ship master. My Nason research has shown that there was quite a bit of traveling back and fourth between Nova Scotia and Portland. This has made it a bit tricky, but I made a breakthrough this past week. Benjamin Nason who was married to Ann Fuller was also a mariner, there son John Nason Was a ships carpenter, his son James Nason was a rigger. John Nason and his family immigrated to Portland from Nova Scotia around 1841.I say immigrated, but they were back and fourth so much I think they didn't know where they were born. They were born in Nova Scotia but Christened in Portland. John Nason was 44 years old in 1850, Captain John A. Lockhart was 38, these two men were 1st cousins and close in age, I feel thet had to know each other. Here's my line in a nutshell,
1.David Lockhart m Mercy Fuller
2.Ann Lockhart m Benjamin Nason
3.John Nasonm Abigal Brown
4.James Edward Nason m Lucretia Blanchard Smith
5.William E.Nasonm.Ella Virginia Deland
6.Emma Lucretria Nason m Edward M. Doheny
7.Eleanor F. Dohenym John T. Craig 8.Eleanor G Craig m.

Captain James Lockhart776,1054 was born on 12 February 1791 in Canada, Nova Scotia, Kings Co., Horton.1054 He died in March 1858 in Canada, Nova Scotia, Kings Co., Horton.85,776,1054 or d. March 1855 (Susan Slade Grosl) James was a ship builder and sea captain. He built the schooner Hercules at Avonport and kept the first light house at Hortonville, Nova Scotia (Eagles).

The Horton, town register of births, marriages and deaths, 1751-1895 has the following family listed - possibly this James Lockhart - (Note - James is not listed in this register as a child of David and Mercy, though date wise he would fit.)
James Lockhart (Died March 1855) & Rebecca
Married Dec 26, 1816
Ruth Amelia born Aug 11, 1817
Rebecca born May 31, 1819 (page smeared, hard to read)

His father was:
JAMES LOCKHART born around 1700 and died 1789. He married Rebecca around 1720.
They settled in Horton Township, Nova Scotia, Canada circa 1762. (Probably from Northern Ireland.)
Captain James had an older brother John (born 11.22.1788). John had a son, John Alexander. He had a son, BENJAMIN -- who is listed in your geneaology. So, the way I figure it, BEN's grandfather (John) and my great great great grandfather (James) were brothers.
