56. Louis DUVAL1
died in 1858 in France, Paris. He was born in France.
Family lore says that Louis Duval had five brothers and lived in Paris. I was
told that he "married beneath himself", which is one reason Josephine
immigrated with her son after his death. The truth? Who knows! Louis DUVAL
and Josephine G. were married before 1850 in France. 57.
Josephine G.1,135 was born about 1826 in France. If
she is the woman in the 1869 passenger list, her birth date calculates to 1826.
This is only a possiblity! She emigrated in 1869 from USA, New York.133 This is a possible match?

Your request for cemetery/death record for Josephine Duval, I am sorry to say
we do not have a record for her death in Saline Co. That does not mean it did
not happen here though, 1876/77 is early for KS. (Willard M. Johnson II, Smoky
Valley Gen. Soc.)
After her husbands death, Josephine immigrated to America either in 1869 or
1874 with her 18 or 24 year old son. They first lived in New York where she did
millinery work. After a few years they left New York to make a new home in Kansas.
Josephine died of typhoid fever upon reaching Kansas, leaving her son to continue
alone.
A search of passenger lists finds one possiblity that might match this story:
a 43 yr old woman traveled in 1869 with her 18 yr old son Edward Duval, but she
lists her name as Francoise Duval.
