Anton and Talke Eilers came to this country in 1850. They lived in Lee Co., Illinois for six years and then came to Jones Co. Iowa in 1856. They settled near Monticello, where Anton still resides. Anton was born and baptised in Sande, but before emigrating in 1851 the family lived in Neugrodendeich, Oldenburg (Oldb), Germany.

Gerhard Eilers, is the son of Anton and Talke Eilers, who came to this country in 1850, and settled in Lee Co., Ill., but removed to Jones Co. in 1856. Renk is the son of Anton and Talke Eilers, who came to this country in 1850; they lived in Lee Co., Ill., six years, and came to Jones Co. in 1856; his father settled near Monticello, where he still resides.

Anna died on 16 April 1906 at the age of 68 in USA, Iowa, Jones Co., Monticello.26,404 Mrs. Anna Elisa Matthiessen, the widow of the late Jacob Matthiessen, died last Monday morning the 16th inst., after an acute illness of several weeks. The funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. J. W. Innes and Rev. E. E. Gruenstein, and were largely attended by the relatives and friends of the good woman. Mrs. Matthiessen was a good mother, and she never swerved in the mother love that kept her close to each of her fourteen children. The eleven survivors lived within a reasonable distance and frequent reunions kept them in the perfect harmony of a peaceful family. The parents of Mrs. Matthiessen wore Anton and Talke Eilers, who lived at Sante Dukedom, Oldenburg, Germany at the time of her birth August 16th 1837. In 1850, the family came to America, and settled in Illinois. April 21st 1854, she was married to Jacob Frederick Matthiessen, and they came to Iowa in 1857. They resided in Wayne township until the death of Mr. Matthiessen, which occurred October 19th 1890. Shortly thereafter, Mrs. Matthiessen removed to Monticello. He: living decendents include 8 sons, 3 daughters and 17 grand-children. Renk Eiler, aged 82 years, died at an early hour this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Will Wenger, in Lovell township. His death was caused by the infirmities of old age. Funeral arrangements have not yet been definitely made. The Express will print an obituary next week.

Obituary of Renk Eiler.

Funeral services for Renk Eiler, who died last Thursday morning, were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of his daughter Mrs. William Wenger. Rev. Leonard Duckett, the pastor of the Presbyterian church officiated and burial was made in Oakwood cemetery.
Renk Eiler was born in Hanover Germany, October 6, 1844, and was nearly 82 years old. He had been ill for some time, and his death was caused by the infirmities of old age. During his illness, he received tender care from his daughter, Mrs. Wenger.
When he was a child, he came with his parents to the United States. The family settled in Illinois, later removing to Iowa. Mr. Eiler was married March 2, 1866, to Maria Harms. For 41 years they made their home on a farm three miles west of Monticello, and in 1907 they removed to Monticello, purchasing a home on Main street.
They live here until 1920, when Mrs. Eiler died. Since that time Mr. Eiler made his home with his sons and his daughter. Mr. Eiler is survived by five sons, Barney, Gerry, Alvin, Ben, and one daughter, Mrs. William Wenger. All the children live in or near Monticello. Three daughters preceded their father in death. He also leaves 25 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was buried at Oakwood Cemetery in USA, Iowa, Jones Co., Monticello.325 Born: 1844
