The earlier roots of the congregation were at the Round Hole, Laymore (Leighmore / Leamore), Ballymena, co. Antrim, N. Ireland, where there was a natural amphitheatre. Regular services were held there by visiting ministers from Scotland. Leamore may have been the property of William Adair who was granted land c.1618 with Mr. Houston, possibly his bro-in-law from Killaisser in Wigtownshire or Cotreoch in Whithorn, Wigtownshire, Scotland.
