Benjamin Wheeler, of Lancaster, Mass., was the pioneer settler of New Marlborough, Mass., and during the winter of 1739-40, that "memorable hard winter," being the only white inhabitant that remained there, he continued to fell the forest, and made the first improvements that were made at that place. At the time of drawing for lots by the settlers, he drew No. 25, which remained in the family until about 1872. Benjamin WHEELER and Hannah were married before 1717.
