Samuel Capen^1339,1340 was born on 6 July 1698 in Massachusetts Colony, Suffolk Co., Dorchester.^731,1341 He died after 1760 at the age of 62 in USA, Massachusetts, Hampshire Co., Belchertown.¹³⁴² Samuel came to Leicester from Dorchester about 1733, and then to Spencer. He purchased lot 19. This lot he sold to John Lamb in 1751 and purchased part of lot 48. He was a parish clerk from 1747 to 1753. He also served as an assessor for several years. It was said that he was an excellent mathematician. Samuel moved to Belchertown around 1760 where he died. Deborah Littlefield and Samuel Capen were married about 1723.^731,1341

He purchased part of lot 17 in 1763 where he built a house.
He had three daughters with his second wife Sarah Sawin.
