10. Robert Tormey "Bob" Lovejoy was born on 10 October 1899 in USA, California, Mendocino Co., DeHaven.^6,12,13,14 To see Bobby Lovejoy's birthplace, turn off Hwy I at Westport to go to Branscomb. Dehaven creek comes out to the ocean there at the turn. If you look east and to the right of Branscomb road you can see a roof up on the bluff over Westport. My Dad said this was where Bobby was born, in Doc Sherwood's house. I don't know if it's the same house, but it is the same spot. (Kathy Smith)

On New Years Day, Mr. and Mrs. George Ells entertained a party of guests at Hotel Covelo. Those around the table were Mr. and Mrs. Ells, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lovejoy, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Gray, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gray, Florence Gray and Margaret Perkins.

G.E. Lovejoy and son, Robert Lovejoy, were in Ukiah a short time yesterday in route to Santa Rosa, where they had a business mission. The former is very enthusiastic over the stock prospects for the season from the standpoint of range feed.

Anna worked in dress shop in Santa Rosa during WW II She returned to Covelo. Became Assistant Postmistress. Marjorie told me her parents moved to Santa Rosa in order for her younger brother, Ken, to be able to further his education past what was available in Covelo.

"Nana used to keep a 22 rifle next to the kitchen sink. She would be standing there doing the dishes, then all of a sudden grab her gun, run outside and shoot a squirrel. She said that those squirrels brought in snakes. It wasn't the squirrels she hated so much... it was the snakes.
I can remember her standing at the sink doing the dishes and all of a sudden hearing a commotion outside. She grabbed her gun and went out. I just thought that it was another squirrel episode, but no... that time she brought in a bobcat! It was after the chickens!
Anyway, however you put it.. My Nana was a good shot with a 22."

He was buried on 25 April 1993 in At sea. Cousin Betty Brown Gunderson recalls that "Ken was just younger than me but in the same grade because he was so smart and Marjorie who was just a little older than me.
I think maybe Ken started in the 2nd or 3rd grade. I skipped the second as the 1st and 2nd were together so being as nosey as I am I listened to what the 2nd was doing. "Ha"! I always had to compete with Ken who always came in 1st on tests and another girl Aurella Begley who was 2nd and I always was 3rd."
