Welcome to my notes on our families. I like genealogy because it helps me see history through the viewpoint of “ordinary” people. How our fore parents left Europe, came to America, and slowly but surely moved west, raising their families along the way will never cease to fascinate me. The above picture is of my grandfather Lou Heiken’s farm in Jones Co., Iowa.
You are welcome to use what I have to help your family research, but please remember to record the sources given. Along with my own work, many "cousins" have shared their research with me. I have not verified all of this information to date. In some cases I have further information on family branches, as this has helped me figure out relationships and family migrations.
