Dan Engle - fiddle, mandolin, tenor banjo, blarge, and vocals
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dan began playing the fiddle and banjo
while majoring in music at UC Santa Barbara. Since then Dan has won five
1st place awards at fiddle contests throughout California. A prolific composer
of traditional style music, he has penned over 600 tunes. His ecstatic
style of playing the fiddle is so infectious and exhilarating, it must
be seen, as it cannot be described.
Ray Frank - lead vocals and guitar
In 1953 Ray began studying the guitar while growing up in the Bronx.
Being proficient in classical as well as numerous folk styles, Ray has
been performing for over three decades. He has been involved in numerous
recording sessions as a performer, as well as a sound engineer. He has
played on radio and television, and teaches music up through college level.
His innate ability to interpret a ballad and convey its true essence is
sheer magic.
Robert Lunceford - accordion and vocals
Robert was born in Maywood, California, and started playing the accordion
at the age of seven. He began performing Irish music in 1981, and played
with numerous Celtic bands while living in Los Angeles. Robert was a member
of the L.A. based band "REEL TO REEL" which served as support act for several
internationally known folk bands, headlining concerts, and appearing on
radio and television. Robert's dry wit and wealth of anecdotes on Irish
music and history in true "blarney" style leaves audiences in stitches.
Paul Donnelly - bodhran, percussion, and vocals
Paul joined Atlantic Shore in August 1995. One of the best bodhran players
on the West Coast, Paul's incredible bodhran solos never failed to "bring
down the house". Paul left Atlantic Shore in September 1998 to pursue a
career as a vocal percussionist with the nationally touring, Chicago based
a Capella group, Blind Mans Bluff.
Paul returned to Northern California in December 2001 and has rejoined
Atlantic Shore.
