Genocide, in its various forms, has become a major issue of our times. Maybe this is because some people like to kill people, LOTS of people — to obliterate all traces of some population. Every moron should know about this, just so you can avoid being obliterated yourself maybe, or so you can do some obliteration of your own. So, you moron, this guide's for you.

So, what the hell is this GENOCIDE stuff, anyway? Here are definitions in 80 languages. It usually boils down to, trying to kill off or remove a people based on their racial, religious, social, ethnic, caste- based or birth (rebirth) status. Some colorful but distasteful terms related to group killings include extermination, annihilation, destruction, elimination, extirpation, liquidation, etc.

Examples of such genocide include Hitler's Final Solution of the Jewish-Gypsy-Slav Problems aka The Holocaust; EuroAmerican slaughters of Native Americans ("The only good Indian is a dead Indian"); Turkish liquidation of Armenians and Kurds; extermination of educated folks in emergent Bangladesh, Pol Pot's Cambodia, Mao's China; the death squads of Central America, usually targeting Mayas or other indigenous; Hutu massacres of Tutsis in Rwanda; and zillions of other cases too dreary for me to list here. I get so focking depressed just thinking about all this.

The goal of genocide is the elimination of a people from a territory (which may include the entire earth or universe). As well as killing those people, forced removal is also considered genocide. The prevailing euphemism for such removal is Ethnic Cleansing, brought into prominence by the Serbian expulsion of non-Serbs during the 1990s Wars of Former Yugoslavia. Similar expulsions include the removal of Germans from Eastern Europe after World War II; Andrew Jackson's sending Native Americans down the Trail of Tears; mutual Muslim-Hindu cleansing during the partition of India-Pakistan; etc.

The official Elements of Genocide include 1) Genocide by killing; 2) Genocide by causing serious bodily or mental harm; 3) Genocide by deliberately inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about physical destruction; 4) Genocide by imposing measures intended to prevent births (as in China's sterilization of Tibetans); Genocide by forcibly transferring children (as in the taking of aboriginal children for 'education' in the US, Canada and Australia).

Just as insidious, but not as notorious, is CULTURAL GENOCIDE, which can include not the destruction of records and artifacts of a people, but of their mores and belief systems as well. Such cultural genocide is usually practiced by preachers of expanding faiths, as they try to convert members of traditional groups, such as when a missionary works in a non-proselytising society. Examples are Evangelists in Polynesia, Protestants in India and Native America, etc. A related subject is LINGUICIDE, the destruction of languages (and all the knowledge embedded in such languages).

Just about wherever you are, you benefit from genocide. Massacres Paid Your Mortgage, Dude. Don't forget this.

The GENOCIDE GAME for Total Morons

There are many genocide games, and many players in those games. The basic rule is simple: remove a people from the area, the continent, the planet. The way you approach that removal and your role in supporting or opposing it leads to endless entertainment. Here are some roles and rules and games for you to play with.
WARNING: Don't try this a home, kids.

ROLES

Genocide Mastermind: Like those nice Nazis who devised the Final Solution, you can develop and implement strategies to eliminate your target population. This is a perfect role for a theorist, a hands-off kind of guy, especially if you can maintain plausible deniability of your guilt (but that's the tricky part). You get points for quotient of the numbers killed divided by the numbers of orders you are caught issuing.

Death Squad Leader: Like Saul/Paul, the death-squad leader and mass torturer who invented Xianity, you can lead teams of armed thugs to liquidate your group's (preferably unarmed) enemies. Your goal is to kill off enemy leaders and drive the rest of the scum away from their homes. You get points for killings, extra points for spectacular tortures and mutilations, and extra bonus points for depopulating villages and neighborhoods and especially entire provinces.

Proselytising Missionary: Your role is to bring some Holy Words to some ignorant heathen savages somewhere. Your beliefs and culture are right, theirs are wrong, and you'll do all you can to bring them Into The Light. This means their beliefs and culture must be destroyed. Well, your god(s) is/are stronger than theirs, so have at it. You get points for converts, no matter how long (or briefly) they survive.

Apologist/Propagandist: Your role is to justify the genocide-ethnic cleansing by pointing out the evil-inferiority-ugliness-etc of the target population and the morality-beauty-victimhood of the perpetrators (who are probably employing you). You may cite or invent whatever sources and authorities you wish. Be sure to invoke some conspiracies (see How To Design And Promote A CONSPIRACY THEORY).

Revisionist Historian: Your role is similar to that of the Apologist-Propagandist but applies after-the-fact. You must either explain that the target population got what they deserved, or (preferably) show that the genocide never actually occurred. You may cite or invent or dismiss or destroy whatever sources and authorities you wish. If you are caught lying, blame the conspiracies working against you.

Human Rights Activist: You can try (TRY!) to play a leading role in preventing and stopping genocides, although you'll probably fail and will likely be targeted for death, along with your friends and family. If you survive and can keep the attention of the international press, you will be smeared as a liar or collaborator or profiteer. This is an ideal role for an idealistic masochist or lucky saint. You'll never get any points.
