If LYCANTHROPY Is A Game Then Here Are The Rules

"Loup-garou, loup-garou, where are you, oh where are you?" —Ric Carter

Lycanthropy, or playing at the WEREWOLF game, is but a small subset of the much greater subject of SHAPESHIFTING games. Every type of shapeshifter ('theriomorph') has its own game, its own rules, its own creed and heritage and rich cultural stew. See the Paranormal Entity Checklist for some of the many species of this form of para-life. And see my Songs about Vampires & Werewolves Etc. for some rollicking fun. Meanwhile, back to werewolfing — here are the general rules of the game:

  1. Go stand out under the full moon.
  2. Change into your wolf-form, or whatever.
  3. Prowl the countryside, howling, drooling, etc.
  4. Avoid crowds with torches, silver bullets, etc.
  5. Find a succulent victim, preferably alone.
  6. Rend and tear and devour them. Sex is optional.
  7. Hide someplace safe to sleep it all off.
  8. Change back to human form. Get dressed.
  9. Live somewhat normally for the next month.
  10. Goto #1.

You may argue that this isn't too medical, and so is in the wrong place here. Incorrect. Lycanthropy is a definite medical condition. Rather than playing at being lycanthropic, we should maybe be concentrating on preventing and curing lycanthropism (and other infestations of shapeshifting), the same as with Vampirism, eh?

Different shapeshifters and traditions have different causes and onsets of the conditions. In some cases the shapeshifting is caused by magic (done by or upon the subject), or divine / demonic intervention, or the stress of battle, or certain chemicals, or other stuff. The lycanthropic tradition. Some of those may be difficult to counter. But the European lycanthropic tradition holds that one becomes a werewolf 1) by surviving werewolf bites, or 2) by being born under certain unholy conditions, or 3) by the application of witchcraft.

Under this paradigm, prevention and treatment can benefit from rather straightforward public-health measures. In lycanthrope-infested regions, inhabitants may be issued crosses, silver dust and implements, and other devices to ward off werewolves, preventing attacks. Extant werewolves and witches can be tracked and attacked, preventing the spread of the condition. All pregnant women can be forcibly baptized and married, forestalling the usual 'unholy' conditions. And suspected werewolves can be sequestered away from exposure to the light of the full moon, preventing the theriomorphic transition. No problem, eh?

The new Werewolf Game thus becomes a contest of multiple hunters and hunted, often exchanging roles, with non-lycanthropes at time gaining advantage by employing superior organization and technology, the lycanthropes sometimes adopting the same means to ensure their survival and spread. A never-ending story...

In Brief: The Ineffable Joy Of ORGONOMY

Particularly valuable were Reich's early insights into the neurotic aspects of social and political forces, and his stress on sexual health as a prerequisite for genuine morality and political progress... happiness and goodness are the products of sexual well-being, and unless a culture is sexually healthy, all attempts to build a good society are bound to fail...

Orgastically potent individuals... are the product of proper rearing by their parents and society, or they are former neurotics who have successfully undergone orgone therapy. Since there are so few such individuals around (outside of primitive cultures), it follows that most political action is useless. Regardless of how institutions are changed, the same sick individuals take control of them, and the same sick impulses quickly corrupt good intentions... Not until we have a society of healthy (orgastically potent) citizens will we be able to achieve a decent political order. And when the order is achieved, it will be largely self-regulating, with no need for 'compulsive' laws and morality. —Martin Gardner

Reich's ORGONOMY and ORGONE ENERGY and COSMIC ORGONE ENGINEERING and ORGONON — the very names elicit thrilling emotions, don't they? I think of Wilhelm Reich's brilliant ORGONE ACCUMULATOR, and I just want to lay myself down in a metal coffin and have energy course through my body, washing away my psycho-politico-sexual neuroses like mud in a waterfall, until I am so energized and vitalized that I leap up and inseminate the entire universe! With my ideas, that is.

Of course, there are dangers in orgonomy, in the misuse of orgone energy, counterbalancing the orgonomic benefits. But any tool that can be used for good can also be used for evil, eh? Our Friend The Atom proves that. Properly used, orgone energy protects against atomic energy. Improperly used... the hazards are terrible, terrible. You don't wanna hear about it. Really.

Studies by various natural scientists have, over the years, demonstrated energetic principles at work in the natural world which are similar to the orgone energy. Early Chinese medicine acknowledged the existence of such a force, called Chi, and the traditional method of acupuncture is based upon the existence of such an energy principle within the human body... In the Western tradition, the vitalists of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries also discussed the existence of a biological energy or life force, which was called animal magnetism, the odic force, psychic force, e'lan vital, and so on... Indeed, Mesmer spoke of animal magnetism as an atmospheric fluid which surrounded, charged, and animated living creatures, and could be projected across a distance by a therapist. —James DeMeo, Ph.D.

Other energies, or possibly other names for Orgone energy, include actinic force, bioplasma, prakriti, prana, mana, astral light, and Human Energy Field. Too bad this stuff is so hard to work with reliably. Bother.

To be continued...

If SCIENTOLOGY Is A Game Then Here Are The Rules

Scientology now claims to be a religion. Not a cult, please. But why is this section here with the health crap, and not in with the religious crap? Or with the alien/UFO crap? After all, its theology includes huge ET monsters (like XENU) from galaxies far, far away. Well, the Scientology section is HERE because DIANETICS, the 'science' part of the Church of Scientology (CoS), was developed as an antidote to psychiatry. That makes it genuine health crap, no matter how psychotic it seems. Anyway, here are some ways to play the game:

Woops! Sorry 'bout that. Now I can't even expose the dangers of the misuse of Scientology in black dianetics. Well hell, their lawyers are bigger and meaner and scarier than my lawyers, so there's not much to be done, except maybe use some magic. See VOODOO DOLLS For The Cheap & Artistically Challenged for an inexpensive way to deal with Scientologists and their attorneys.

In Brief: The Acoustic Joy Of SONOTHERAPY

"'Music hath charms to soothe the savage beast', or some kinda honky bullshit like that." —Anon.
  •   Sonotherapy has advanced far beyond the days when musicians played while nobles underwent surgery or childbirth or shaving or whatever. Such primitive applications have been updated to the point where, instead of just having Muzak piped in over the office speakers, you can listen to your own CDs or MP3s as the dentist is lasering away your diseased teeth and gums. But much much more is now possible.
  •   Specific frequencies may be projected at individuals or groups to produce desired physiological and/or psychological results. Certain low frequencies induce nausea, vomiting, paranoia, psychosis, fight-or-flight syndrome, unconsciousness, coma, and other reactions deemed useful in crowd control. Think of it as social therapeutics.
  •   Other, more complex, sounds may be directed at people to program their thoughts, emotions, behaviours, dreams, and other cognitive-operant functions. Such applications, being not necessarily therapeutic, and possibly also involving electromagnetic as well as acoustic waves, are beyond the scope of this document and will dealt with more in my MINDCONTROL notes.
  •   Depending on the individual patient, various forms of music may be useful in distracting the patient from medical / surgical procedures being performed (as in dentistry, or even in effecting treatments and cures in their own right. For instance, chronic atheism may be treated by repeated applications of ALLAH LOVES THE LITTLE CHILDREN or ONWARD, MUSLIM SOLDIERS.
  •   Acoustic signals, carrier waves modulated in various ways, may be beamed at different portions of the human body to elicit various reactions, depending on the frequency, power, duration, coverage, etc. There's nothing like 1500 watts of VHF acoustics narrow-beamed up your nose to clear up a bad case of sinusitis, eh?
  •   In this regard, wonderful treatments are possible by narrow-beaming high-power signals (of very-low [VLF] to very-high [VHF] frequencies) directly onto various bodily organs (such as eyes, nose, tonsils, gonads, metatarsals, glands, kidneys, etc) or pathologies (tumors, dandruff, moles, ulcers, etc). The general rule for power and frequency is: the more, the merrier!
  •   As more is learnt about generating acoustics, and about human physiological and psychological and spiritual reactions to acoustics, further significant advances in SONOTHERAPY will definitely occur. It's just a matter of time. Get ready.

If VAMPIRISM Is A Game Then Here Are The Damn Bloody Rules

"We'll live forever / with vampire love..." —Ric Carter

Vampirism occurs in widely varying contexts amongst different peoples world-wide. Every type of blood- and flesh-parasite has its own game, its own rules, its own creed and heritage and rich cultural stew. See the Paranormal Entity Checklist for some of the many species of this form of para-life. And see my Songs about Vampires & Werewolves Etc. for some rollicking fun. Meanwhile, back to vampiring — here are the general rules of the game:

    TO PLAY:

  1. Bite
  2. Suck
  3. Sleep
  4. Arise
  5. Goto #1

    TO AVOID:

  1. Direct sunlight
  2. Sliver objects
  3. Crucifixes, garlic
  4. Mobs, torches, stakes
  5. Bloodless intellectuals
Whoever is still alive after sunrise, wins.

OK, OK, there's more to it than that. Different cultures have different vampires. European vampires have certain characteristics, the kind you've seen in the cinema, that differ from the rest of the vampish ilk. And the life of even a Eurovamp is rather more complicated than I presented above. So sue me. Or bite me. Or whatever.

As with Lycanthropy, vampirism may be seen as a medical condition that is susceptible to prevention and/or treatment. In the Eastern European tradition, vampires are created simply by 1) surviving vampiric bites, or 2) the application of witchcraft by or upon the subject.

Prevention and treatment are thus straightforward public-health campaigns: a) supply at-risk populations with crosses and silver implements and garlic, preventing their victimization; b) suppress existing vampires and witches / wizards, preventing the creation of new vampires; c) immobilize suspected vampires, preventing their attacks; and d) treat vampires with applications of silver, crucifixes, garlic, wooden stakes, head-chopping, etc.

An updated Vampire Game would thus consist of individuals and teams of vampires and vampire-hunters, weaving strategies to out-fox (and potentially annihilate) the other(s), constantly moving to new territories in new guises, and adopting new technologies to assist in their efforts. The roles of radioactive silver and variant garlic (mutated, genespliced, synthesized, etc) and blood substitutes should be explored. Targets may be tracked by radio, radar, GPS, etc. Research tools such as computer simulation, focus groups and role-playing may predict target locations and behaviours. New microbes and even nanobots may be deployed. The possibilities are endless.
