GORTICIAN - Live On KCUF

In an effort to understand what the fuss is about, I'm listening to
Gortician's 'performance' on KCUF.

Within 1 minute, I've determined that their detractors are full of shit. I
would tend to think that the problem lies in the listener's tinny PC
speakers, rather than a greatly flawed recording. Noisy, yes, but I hear
bass, kick drums, guitar, vocals. I also hear the sheer brilliance that is
Gortician. If 'Next Religion' doesn't draw you in, then 'Alien Abduction'
definitely should. By the time 'Kill Jim Morrison' kicks in, you're either
an interested listener, or have shut it off and started whining on Usenet.
We make no apologies.

In fact, we're glad to have helped in separating the wheat from the chaff,
listener-wise. Love us, hate us, suck our dicks. It makes no difference, as
we didn't write it, perform it, live it for you...

'Labyrinth's Animator' being such a song as to make further debate
pointless. If you're bitching about Gortician, you haven't listened this
far. I know of few bands in this day and age capable of writing an epic
song such as this. Harp all you want about the drummer's lack of ability,
but I would have to refute strongly the notion that all of Gortician is
untalented. In fact, only an obvious asshole would make such a statement.
The improv pisstake of Iron Maiden's 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' seems to go
right over people's heads. The prospect of hearing 3 people soloing at once
is, I admit, daunting. Likewise, 'Number of the Beast' might upset people
looking for a straight, sincere cover. Mayhap you should instead pull out
your dusty record collection if that's what you want to hear. With 'Vagina
Dentata', Gortician dig deep into the morgue, to pull out a song that's
rarely been heard since 1991. Likewise, 'Caesarian Salad' is one of the
least performed tunes in the set. Luckily, the drummer makes up for his
lack of finesse by beating the shit out of his drums. Wrapping up a fairly
blistering set is another improv, 'Crazy Train' by Ozzy Osbourne. As an ode
to the 80's and insanity, this song perfectly encapsulates the 'fuck you'
attitude inherent in every Gortician performance. Fitting, then, that it
should end unexpectedly, like a plane crashing into a tour bus. In short,
Gortician doesn't suck, you do...
