Omar's Links
Naturally, I'm still working on this list, so it may seem sparse for now.
Contents:
GURPS Links
GURPS is the roleplaying system I GM most often (almost entirely in PBEM). The following links are relevant somehow to this game. I've put them here mostly for my own convenience (although, of course, I also have bookmarks for that), but I try to explain why I think these links are of particular interest.
- The SJ Games GURPS Page
Steve Jackson Games sets the standard. Every game company's web pages should be so informationally complete and well organized.
- GURPS Lite
GURPS, in 32-pages, for free on the web!
GURPS People
Huh? Some people have pages which are very interesting and/or useful GURPS-wise. Some of that some are listed here:
- Brett Slocum
Action-packed. It's got his own Alternate Earths and campaign conversions (notably Tekumel). Brett also keeps the most complete list on the Net you will find of conversions of other game systems and worlds to GURPS. Joe Bob says Check It Out.
- Dr. Kromm
The Line Editor for GURPS has a handful of resources on his page.
FUDGE Links
A free RPG available on the net! I vacillate between FUDGE and GURPS, although mostly I play GURPS. In the end, as its name suggests FUDGE is a better system when you want to be freewheeling and handwaving, and GURPS is a better system if you want a broader base of rules and the nature of skills and abilities spelled out in more detail.
- Grey Ghost Games
Grey Ghost Games is the company that published the typeset and bound version of FUDGE. They also publish a few other books related to FUDGE, and have a wealth of FUDGE information on their home page. I have in the past been the volunteer webmaster for their site, but am moving away from that as other people take the mantle away.
- Steffan O'Sullivan's FUDGE Page
Steffan O'Sullivan is the author of FUDGE. He has a stack of information and links about the game available here.
Other Games
- Microtactix
Makers of the board game of personal combat named Compact Combat, as well as a recently released set of roleplaying rules named Simply Roleplaying!. The latter costs a mere $9, and is available immediate as a downloadable PDF file. There are two versions, one (like most PDFs) suitable for printing, but the other is a PDF which, yes, actually is convenient to read onscreen! Simply Roleplaying! looks like it might be an ideal game for new gamemasters wanting to get involved in roleplaying games.
- Continuum
This is an extremely interesting time travel game. I would really love to get a chance to play or GM a game of this at some point.
- In Nomine
An interesting game, also from Steve Jackson Games. The players are angels and demons struggling for the souls of humanity.
Worlds
- Hârn
This is a link to HârnPage, which seems to be the primary link for Columbia Games' medieval fantasy world Hârn. It's an impressively detailed, extremely realistic ("depressingly realistic" in the words of a friend of mine) fantasy world. It stresses consistency, and physical as well as socioeconomic believability, while still allowing for things like magic.
