A visit to the SYSCOClassic Warm Water Lobster Tails web page includes claims that their product is trap-caught and processed live. As a practical matter, these claims are based on business convenience; no company wants to be associated with the deaths and injuries that accompany diver-caught lobsters. However, during a visit to one lobster plant on Corn Island that processes diver-caught lobster, our videotaping captured a shipping box labeled "SYSCO Lobster Tails". There is no practical way to differentiate between diver-caught and trapped lobster in such a situation. As an aside, diver-caught lobster is not processed live.
