the back of the cork has silicon sealant applied
for non-skid & non marring attributes!

My latest version has a slightly longer hook portion that is bent back to act as a clamp to the mounting surface and holds a note just like snapping a doctor's x-ray under a clip on a viewer. For those of you who need to mount picture or notes beneath the the Li'l Hooker and still be able to hang items
from the hook you must be sure that some part of the cork's non-skid backing contacts the underlying surface ....
otherwise the picture you have posted acts as a sled on ice and will creep down the surface as a weight is applied to the hook.

Dream/Treasure Boxes
Aluminum cat food tins are an excellent resource for more than recycling!
True, they can be used as a vessel for paints, treasures, candles & backpacking stoves, but they may also be separated into their component parts and used for as many artistic expressions as your imagination allows. The tins come in anodized colors of silver, gold and sometimes you can find a bluish green. The more you work with this material the more interesting things you can make.

and the shell-like embelishments around the sides.
I've developed an aluminum cat food tin cutting system, (See pics below) for both standard sized and the smaller size can that uses my shop-built jig and an Xacto brand fine toothed saw to cut both the rim and the bottom leaving a circular band of aluminum to make other items such as leaves, feathers, medalions and thin strips for weaving.

This has been reverse engraved and surrounding color removed with a fiberglass brush.
The aluminum cat food tin cutting system & cutting jig I've developed uses a standard size steel pet food tin as the base for holding a standard size aluminum can in such a position that the steel can rim acts as a guide for the saw to follow as well as act as a handle to keep ay wobbling to a minimum. Also shown below is the wooden handled small can cutting jig.
The aluminum can is first prepared for cutting by marking the center of the bottom and using a brad point 9/64th bit, drilling a hole to allow the can to be mounted on the steel jig can.
The rim of the open end is cut off first and the cut is made right against the rim itself as a guide for the saw blade.
The actual sawing is done by counts of five to help you judge when you are close to parting the rim from the rest of the can.
Start off with smooth medium-heavy back & forth strokes 1,2,3,4,5 and then rotate the can so that the starting stroke of the next set of five begins within the last cut of the previous set of five. (when in doubt use lighter strokes for more control). As you progress in experience with this method you'll be smoother and begin rotating as you saw; so don't dispair.
When you have completely gone around the can in this manner (about 70 strokes -35 strokes each direction-) you may hear or feel a creaking as the can rim is about ready to part. Test by pulling gently to see if the rim can be removed. If you find resistance, lightly saw all around the rim a little more in a backstroke or pulling motion.and when the rim is ready it will snap off when pulled at the weakest point in the cut.
Set the parted rim aside (it will be useful later), and turn to cutting the bottom from the aluminum can.
Start off with smooth medium-heavy strokes 1,2,3,4,5 and then rotate the can so that the starting stroke of the next set of five begins within the last cut of the previous set of five.(when in doubt use lighter strokes for more control)
When you have completely gone around the can in this manner (about 50 strokes) you may hear or feel a creaking as the can bottom is about ready to part. Lightly saw all around the bottom a little more in a backstroke or pulling motion.
Do not try to pull the can sides to separate the bottom; instead just continue backstroking around the saw cut and it will seem as if you are tearing through the saw cut and the can's sides will soon part from the bottom.

A Bench-Top Tool Holder
I made mine from 3/4" plywood and screwed down protein shake canisters.
(I cut 1 1/2" off the top with the lid on and use the cut-off parts as a weighted base for an origami lamp)
The clear plastic containers from 100 pack blank CDs are great to use too.
My tool-holder all filled up!
Umbrella for Outdoor Food Dehydrator
An Umbrella to protect our food dehydrator from the fog and rain is just a few minutes work and an older umbrella with the stem cut down, a hinge, two unequal lengths with equal widths of 3/4" plywood with two 2" x 2" 3/4" blocks screwed to the top piece and one 3/8" hole in the top block for the umbrella stem.
I positioned plywood so that the leading edge of the top piece of plwood acts as a lever/finger-hold for tilting the umbrella and when the umbrella is tilted to the side for access to the dehydrator the bottom plywood piece's edge acts as a stop.
(I added a small piece of non-skid tool shelf liner to help keep it centered.)

(We don't use the stove all that much on our raw food regimen). Making a pattern for Raw Food Stovetop covers:
1. Measure width & depth of stovetop plus an additional width for feet
to rest on counter.
2. lay a board on burners to measure for feet
(adding an extra 1/4" minimum to height measurements ).
NOTE: Feet will probably be from 3/4" wide wood with
a 1 1/2" to 2 1/2" length ( height to be determined from your measurements)
Feet will be placed in from edges about 1/4" with ends to be determined
so as to clear uneven areas of stovetop (any slope or curve at front or back)
and the usual hump at the typical counter edge if present.
A local woodworker has made these two boards for our stovetop covers.
