SCMA Alliance Art Exhibit

OnThursday evening, April 24, all local physicians and their families are invited to Hidden Talents, the second annual art exhibit sponsored by the SCMA Alliance. The exhibit, at Paradise Ridge Winery in Santa Rosa, features paintings, photographs, sculptures and other works of art by SCMA members and their spouses or partners. Some of the works to be shown appear on the next few pages.

Tickets for Hidden Talents, which can be purchased at www.scmaa.org, are $37.50 per person. Artists have the option of selling their works at the exhibit, with 30% of the sale price being donated by the Alliance to a local charity.

SIDEWALK PAUSE
by B. Sue Stephenson, MD

Just past dusk
Evening light beaming
Through old windows
Is warmer:
Breaking it pane beside pane makes it so.

Precious, this pattern,
And ordinary, like lines of books
Or squares of chocolate.

Inside there is a lamp
A bookcase
Two people eating at the table
A painting on the wall.

I become still,
Wanting to see the kiss.

MOUSE
by B. Sue Stephenson, MD

You only know what you know.

Then a little mouse runs from
What you know
And you follow it
Through the tall grass
Across the dry gully,
Dusty flash in warm summer sun.

Its heart beats madly.
You think you both might die.
But before you can reach the mouse
With your hand
The world becomes smaller,
More kind,
And you are gifted desire:
Chariot and albatross.
