Kremenets is a beautiful old city of about 24,000 people. It is nestled among mountains, and, in addition to its Jewish community, was once a great center of Christian scholarship. Most of the Jewish district was destroyed by the Nazis. The ghetto was torched, and most of the city's Jews died in this disastrous fire.

The main street in Kremenets. You can see the remains of an ancient castle on Mt. Bona.

This is typical of the older buildings still standing.

This is me standing at the edge of town.
