diane - 2clik is short for doubleclick

to create a table for a navigation bar, clik once on the table icon . When you do, it will give you a dialogue box that looks like this:

choose the number of rows and columns that will give you the look that you desire; for instance, a setting of Rows 1 and Columns 4, with Cell Spacing 2, Cell Padding 0 and Border 1 will give you a table that looks like this:

if you wish to modify the overall size of the table, 2clik the outer edge of the table, then grab the corner handle and drag it to the size you wish

if you want to modify the width of an individual cell, 2clik on the table edge, move the pointer over the line between the cells until it turns into a double headed arrow, then move it where you like:

if you wish to modify the Borders, Cell Spacing or Cell Padding of the cells in the table, go to the Window Menu and choose Show Inspector  you will then see the Inspector Window.

click once on the outer edge of the table and you can then modify any of the features listed in the Inspector Window; for instance, changing the width of the table to 600 pixels, the Height to 72 pixels ( 72 pixels = 1 inch), the Border to 3, the Cell Spacing to 3 and the Cell Padding to 3 ( these are measured in pixels also) will give you a table that looks like this:

and so forth. if you wish to set up a navigation bar that has no borders or padding around the contents, simply set the Borders, Cell Spacing and Cell Padding to 0, and you will get a dotted outline of the table that will show only in Edit Mode ( when the Edit Icon is showing at the top right of the page) . The table just created would look like this with the 0 settings:

And Pagemill will automatically modify the cell size to fit the contents you insert, so that you need not guess at the right size for your cells with the Inspector if you don't want to. Simply make all your Text or Images or Text over Image the same size, click inside a cell and insert them one by one in the cells using the Insert> Object>Image command. As below:

*remember, the little dotted lines disappear when you go to Preview Mode , and the spaces between the cells disappear completely when you go to a web browser, which you can do from Pagemill by going to the View Menu > Switch to > (Your Browser) Command, which shows how it will look on the web). i made them stay here with a clever trick so you could see what it looks like when you're doing it.

you link each cell to a target (destination) in one of two ways:

1. you can select a cell and type in an address in the Link to: box at the bottom of the screen in PageMill (in this instance the "yomama" cell has been selected (an orange line), though it's kinda hard to see)

such an address would be something like yada.html or yadapage.html. i have linked both the yada image and the yomama image above to a page i created called yada.html, which name you will see in the Status Bar at the bottom of this page when you move the hand over "yada" or "yomama" in this image. when you clik on "yada" or "yomama" you will see that page showing how a no border table looks. these image files are in the same folder as all the files and images i am working with. All your files and images must always be in the same folder together, so that when you upload your pages none of your links get broken. for ease of use and location, i always put all my images within this main folder in a subfolder called "Images"

2. you can highlight a cell by 2cliking on it, and drag an anchor from the location you wish to link to and dropping it on the cell when it is highlighted. if it's another page, open that page beside the page the table is on, resize the windows so you can see the highlighted cell and the page icon of the page you wish to link to, and drag the page icon onto the highlighted cell. Pagemill will automatically create the link. if it's a location on the same page or a different page, find the location, clik next to it, and create an anchor next to it using the Insert > Anchor command. highlight the cell as before, go to the anchor and clik and drag it over the highlighted cell. Pagemill forms the link again. save your page and go to Preview mode to test the link.
