Respondents to an online Petaluma River human powered watercraft users' survey estimated that as many as 300 rowers and paddlers are enjoying the River. Distributed in March 2006, the purpose of the survey, conducted by Susan Starbird and the North Bay Rowing Club, was to assess existing uses and the needs and wants of this group. 133 boaters responded, including two businesses.
