REUNION PLANNING

Our 50th Reunion is being planned by thirty members of our class with the assistance of Mike Tompos, Brent Nystrom, Luke Hasskamp, and Lynne Wilmot of the Carleton staff. The class members are divided into three committees, publicity, activities, and gift. The meetings of these committees were in San Diego, CA on the weekend of Feb. 28-29,'04; San Antonio, TX, Nov 12-14, '04; Tuscon, AR, Mar. 18-20, '05; Northfield, Sep. 30-Oct. 2 '05; and Tampa,FL, Jan. 28-30 '06 .

At the San Diego meeting, each committee worked at organizing itself, assigning reponsibilities, and choosing goals.

At the San Antonio meeting a set of goals for the committees was finalized.

At the Tucson and Northfield meetings, the committees refined their planning and reported their progress to the Red Tie Team.

At the Tampa meeting, final plans were made to contact everyone in the class and to finalize the program.

Also in Tampa, the Red Tie team approved the Gift Committee's recommendation that the class gift be directed to a scholarship fund for international study.

GOALS

1.
To have the largest percentage turnout that the class of 1956 has ever attracted to a reunion.

2.
To insure--through programs and opportunities for informal conversation-- that every '56er returning to Carleton has a thoroughly enjoyable Reunion weekend.
3.
To enable participation in the various formal and informal dialogues that will take place during the weekend, so that we all may teach and learn from each other.

4.
To invite reflection on how Carleton prepared us to be citizens of our world.

5.
To provide a range of opportunities to (1) update ourselves on how Carleton has developed and matured in the half century since our graduation; and (2) reconnect with the College in whatever ways are appropriate to each of us individually.
6.
To repay some of what we gained from our years at Carleton by raising a significant class gift to celebrate this milestone Reunion and to support the College.
