Oborozukiyo!

Taken just ahead of the 9th month full moon. Very romantic, this one.

This is dogwood (ミズキ), always a nice scarlet. I'm surprised this Japanese tree doesn't show up more often in poetry.

This is a Japanese maple and would be called 楓、かえで in Japanese. Berkeley Horticulte and such places might say "momiji" in place of Japanese maple, but that should mostly, anyway, be used to refer to the tree in autumn only.

.. although actually not because this is Heavenly Bamboo (南天、なんてん) which grows a golden color all year long when planted in a sunny location and remains green to greenish when planted in shade. This is considered a very positive plant in the feng shui system but you will find it near public bathrooms in Japanese sometimes. Very hardy.

Kudos for including fruit (実、み) in the mix.

Autumn Moon

This is not oborozukiyo because it is not veiled in clouds. It is a lovely fullish-moon. This one is a cell phone pic so what you see is already full-sized.
